The Public Pamphlet Dec. 1991 Tomas & Bonnie Fernandez Bringing Shared Visions to Life by Leona M. Nutter
The spirit of Christmas lives year 'round in a small house off Route 15. And it has taken on monumental dimensions. That spirit is the creative force behind and between Tomas and Bonnie Fernandez. The couple shares a lifestyle-a flair for life and a style that is all their own.
They live and work among the treasures of their creativity. Tomas is a sculptor and a painter. Crux Gloria, the 33-foot tall steel cross which beckons from a meadow to the motorists on Route 7 outside of Purcellville, makes him a sculptor's sclulptor. And the stories of color and texture told by the huge oil paintings which grace the walls of their home give paint a dimension of emotion which is a relief from the static color which paints everything that is routine in our world.
Tomas' work is monumental by size and impact. Bonnie's work is monumental despite its size. She paints miniature water colors of intricate detail, many of which measure no more than 3 inches by 3 inches when completed. <BACK NEXT>
